Louis F. Draganich / Principal

Draganich Consulting provides consultation, expert witness testimony and trial support in injury biomechanics, accident reconstruction, orthopedic treatment, failure analysis, patent infringement and patent validity.

Dr. Draganich has provided expert witness testimony since 1994 and was the Director of Orthopaedic Biomechanics at The University of Chicago 1985-2007. He retired early from the University with Emeritus status to focus on Draganich Consulting. He received his MS and PhD degrees in bioengineering from the University of Illinois in 1979 and 1985, focusing on biomechanics, and while working as a technician and then as a research engineer in the orthopedic biomechanics laboratories at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. His expertise is in mechanical engineering applied to the musculoskeletal system, including gait analysis, joint mechanics and ligament reconstruction. He has performed research and published in peer review journals on gait, tripping and falls, sports injuries, upper and lower extremity joint mechanics and total knee replacement design and function. He has invented a total knee replacement that has been implanted in thousands of patients and he holds several patents on total knee replacement design. He has taught orthopedic biomechanics and injury biomechanics to engineering graduate students, medical students and orthopedic residents, fellows and surgeons while at the University of Chicago.
