Dr. Draganich has 32 years of academic experience in orthopaedic biomechanics and orthopedic research and 15 years as a biomechanics expert witness. He was Director of Orthopaedic Biomechanics at the University of Chicago for 22 years before retiring with Emeritus status to focus on Draganich Consulting. His fund of knowledge and experience provide him with the biomechanical foundation necessary for understanding the mechanical factors important to injuries of the head, neck, back and extremities.

Goals include determining if the forces exceeded the tolerance level of the anatomical structure to produce the injury claimed, if the injury pattern is consistent with the accident as described, what the injury pattern reveals about the cause of the injury and if an orthopedic implant, industrial apparatus or other product was defective.

The science of injury biomechanics relates the forces of a traumatic event to the tolerance level of the anatomical structure. How is this done? Based on the laws of physics and thorough knowledge of the musculoskeletal system, the injury biomechanics expert applies engineering principles to investigate the interaction between the forces acting on the body, the motion of the body and the deformation or failure of the body segment.
